
Raised in Fairbanks, Alaska, Susan earned an undergraduate degree in Economics from Whitman College in 1977. She received a J.D. from Lewis & Clark Northwestern School of Law in 1980. Susan began her law practice in Fairbanks, and moved to Anchorage in 1981. Since then, she has focused her practice exclusively on assisting clients with estate planning, strategic philanthropy, business related issues, and post mortem administration.
She is a member and past president of the Anchorage Estate Planning Council. Additionally, she is a member of WealthCounsel, a national organization of estate planning professionals, the Alaska Supreme Court’s Probate Rules Committee, the Estate Planning and Probate Section of the Alaska Bar Association (former co-chair), and the American, Alaska and Anchorage Bar Associations. She is a graduate Fellow of the three-year Master’s Program of the Esperti Peterson Academy of Multidisciplinary Practice. She is currently a member of ePlanners Estate Planning Alliance, a national study group of estate planning attorneys.
Susan has been active in philanthropic and charitable organizations throughout her professional career. She is a member of the board of directors of the Alaska Community Foundation and currently serves as board chair. She participated as a member of the Planned Giving Goals and Visioning Committee for United Way of Anchorage and the School Board of Grace Christian School.
Susan teaches regularly on estate planning, probate, and post mortem administration. She is a frequent presenter to state and national attorney groups, accountants, financial and insurance professionals, nonprofit and community organizations.
